Step 1: Explore the Kunsthaus Graz
The Kunsthaus Graz is a must-visit destination in Graz, Austria. Its biomorphic design, created by architects Peter Cook and Colin Fournier, has earned it the nickname “The Friendly Alien.” Inside, visitors can find a range of contemporary art exhibitions and installations that will blow your mind. Take your time to explore the museum, and don’t forget to take a photo of the museum’s striking exterior.
Step 2: Take a Stroll along the Mur River
The Mur River runs through the heart of Graz, and taking a stroll along the riverbanks is a must-do activity. You can enjoy the stunning scenery of the city and the river, and take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city center. Along the river, you can also find some great spots for picnicking, reading a book, or simply enjoying the views.
Our visit was in August, a few days earlier in the Alps there was quite heavy rainfall as you can see in the video. Some of the attractions by the river were closed due to the high water level.

One of the most unique attractions in Graz is the Murinsel, a floating island on the Mur River. This impressive piece of architecture, designed by New York artist Vito Acconci, resembles a metallic shell with an open-air amphitheater inside.
